
Tue Sep 17 21:52:59 UTC 2024: ## Haryana Election Officials Seize Over Rs 26 Crore Worth of Drugs, Liquor and Cash
**Chandigarh:** Ahead of the October 5 Haryana Assembly elections, law enforcement agencies have seized over Rs 26.82 crore worth of illegal drugs, liquor and unaccounted-for cash in the state. The seizures were made since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into effect on August 16.
Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal stated that the Election Commission is maintaining a strict stance to ensure fair and transparent elections. Agencies are actively monitoring the movement of illegal liquor, narcotics and cash in the state to prevent voters from being influenced by any inducements.
From August 16 to September 16, the authorities seized more than 3,26,017 liters of illegal liquor valued at over Rs 9.82 crore, 2,339 kg of narcotics worth more than Rs 6.76 crore, and valuable metals like gold and silver worth over Rs 3.10 crore.
The state police, alongside other agencies like the Income Tax department and the Narcotics Control Bureau, are actively engaged in these seizures to ensure the integrity of the upcoming elections.
