Wed Sep 18 01:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Limerick Hurling Team Determined to Bounce Back After Semifinal Defeat

Limerick’s bid for a fifth consecutive All-Ireland hurling title ended in disappointment this year, with a semi-final loss to Cork marking a “one that got away” according to former goalkeeper Joe Quaid. Despite the setback, Quaid expects the team to return with a vengeance next year, fueled by a desire to right the wrongs of the 2023 season.

“They should do what they did with the American football in Croke Park recently and make a festival out of it every weekend, because it’s going to be unbelievable again,” said Quaid, highlighting the competitive nature of the Munster Championship, where Limerick will be looking to reclaim their dominance.

The team’s recent dominance, having won five All-Irelands since 2018, makes the current situation all the more frustrating for the Limerick faithful. However, Quaid is confident in the team’s ability to bounce back and that the “driven” squad will be relentless in their pursuit of another Celtic Cross.

He expects manager John Kiely, who has remained in charge for eight years, to stay on for at least another season with the goal of winning next year’s All-Ireland before potentially stepping down.

While Limerick’s championship journey this year ended early, the team’s recent success has not gone unnoticed. Quaid predicts that veteran goalkeeper Nickie Quaid, his cousin, will continue playing for “another couple of years,” barring any injuries.

With the team eager to regain their throne and a strong core of players poised to continue, Limerick’s quest for a sixth All-Ireland title promises to be a thrilling storyline in the 2024 season.
