Wed Sep 18 16:48:00 UTC 2024: ## PM Modi to Rally in Srinagar, Boosting BJP’s J&K Election Campaign

**Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a major election rally in Srinagar on Thursday, bolstering the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. The rally will be held at the Sher-e-Kashmir stadium, where a large crowd of supporters is expected to gather.

Ahead of PM Modi’s visit, the city has been decorated with BJP flags, and security has been significantly heightened. Srinagar has been declared a temporary red zone for drone operations, with authorities emphasizing the importance of cooperation from citizens.

Multi-layered security arrangements are in place around the venue, with quick reaction teams (QRT) deployed on all roads leading to the rally. This heightened security comes as a result of the high number of VIP visits during the election period.

PM Modi is expected to campaign for BJP candidate Engineer Aijaz from Lal Chowk and other candidates contesting in Kashmir. The saffron party hopes that the rally will draw a massive crowd and become a pivotal moment in their campaign.

The first phase of voting in Jammu and Kashmir took place on Wednesday, with 24 seats across seven districts covered. The voter turnout of 59 percent – the highest in the past seven elections – indicates strong participation in the polls.

**The BJP, fielding 20 candidates and supporting “like-minded” independents, aims to build a broad coalition in the region. PM Modi’s visit to Srinagar and subsequent rally are seen as a key move in this strategy.**
