Toronto, ON – Jeremy Dutcher has been awarded the prestigious Polaris Music Prize for his album “Motewolonuwok,” making him the first artist in the prize’s history to win twice. Dutcher previously won in 2018 for his album “Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa.”
The Polaris Music Prize, which recognizes the best Canadian album of the year, was presented at a gala in Toronto’s historic Massey Hall. Dutcher beat out nine other shortlisted albums, including releases by popular artists like the Beaches, BAMBII, and Allison Russell.
The 2024 shortlist was chosen from a pool of 238 albums considered by a jury of 207 industry professionals.
