**Changzhou, China** – The second round of the China Open 2024 kicked off on Thursday, with six Indonesian players vying for a spot in the quarterfinals.

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Indonesia’s top hope in the men’s singles, continued his winning streak by defeating top-seeded Shi Yuqi of China in straight sets (21-11, 21-8). Meanwhile, Jonatan Christie will face France’s Toma Junior Popov.

In the men’s doubles, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin will take on the top-seeded Chinese duo Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang. Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana will battle it out against second-seeded Danes Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen for a quarterfinal berth.

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, the fourth-seeded Indonesian pair, will face the unseeded Danish duo Andreas Sondergaard/Jesper Toft.

Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, the Indonesian mixed doubles pair, will face Malaysian duo Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei.

Despite a tough fight, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung lost to India’s Malvika Bansod in the women’s singles.

Indonesia’s badminton players are expected to face tough competition as they advance through the tournament. However, their strong performances so far have given hope for a successful outing at the China Open 2024.
