Thu Sep 19 06:11:21 UTC 2024: ## India Dominates Day 1 of First Test Against Bangladesh
**Chennai, India:** India enjoyed a strong start to the first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, putting up a dominant performance on day 1.
The Indian openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma, started cautiously but quickly found their rhythm. Jaiswal, in particular, impressed with a stylish 37 runs, hitting 4 boundaries along the way.
However, Bangladesh struck early, dismissing both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill cheaply, leaving India at 20/2.
But the middle order responded with a strong partnership between Virat Kohli (6) and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Rishabh Pant came in and played an aggressive knock of 33, hitting several boundaries.
At stumps, India were comfortably placed at 144/3, with Jaiswal and Pant set to continue their partnership on day 2.
Bangladesh bowlers, despite the early wickets, struggled to contain the Indian batsmen. Hasan Mahmud was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets, but his efforts were overshadowed by the Indian dominance.
The day was a clear indication of India’s intent to secure a series win, and Bangladesh will need to come up with a better game plan to challenge the home team in the upcoming days.
