**Hyderabad, August 22, 2024:** The Telangana High Court has ordered the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party to demolish its illegally constructed office in Nalgonda within 15 days. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 1 lakh on the party, to be paid to the District Legal Service Authority, Nalgonda, for constructing the building without obtaining prior permission from the municipality.
Justice T. Vinod Kumar, who presided over the case, expressed serious concern over the BRS party’s actions, noting that the party violated its own rules while in power. The judge emphasized that the law applies equally to all citizens, including political parties.
The court’s decision stems from a Writ Petition filed by the BRS party, challenging a notice issued by the Nalgonda Municipal Commissioner, which demanded the demolition of the unauthorized party office. The BRS party had constructed the office on a one-acre land plot without obtaining the necessary permits and later attempted to regularize it under the Building Regularisation Scheme.
The court rejected the BRS party’s plea for exemption from paying the Rs. 1 lakh fine, stating that the party is financially sound and capable of paying the cost.
The BRS party office in Nalgonda is located on Survey numbers 1498 and 1506, which were allocated to the party for construction during their time in power. This allocation, however, was deemed illegal due to violations of existing rules.
