**Chandigarh:** The Congress has outlined its election campaign promises for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections with seven key guarantees, aiming to regain political influence in the state. The party has pledged a range of social welfare schemes, focusing on farmers, women, youth, and the elderly.
The Congress has committed to providing a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, a long-standing demand across the country. The party also plans to conduct a caste survey and raise the income limit for the creamy layer from ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
In a move to strengthen social security, the Congress promises to reintroduce the old pension scheme with a monthly payout of ₹6,000 for senior citizens, disabled people, and widows. They have also pledged to provide 300 units of free electricity to households and free medical treatment up to ₹25 lakh.
The Congress has also addressed women’s empowerment with a promise of a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 for women aged 18-60 years and subsidized LPG cylinders at ₹500. For youth, they plan to fill two lakh vacant positions and launch a drug-free campaign.
The party has also vowed to provide a 100-yard plot and a two-room house costing ₹3.5 lakh for the underprivileged.
These promises, unveiled under the slogan ‘Saat Vaade, Pakke Irade,’ were announced by top Congress leaders including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, general secretary KC Venugopal, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan.
The Haryana Assembly elections are scheduled for October 5, with counting on October 8. The Congress hopes that these promises will resonate with voters and help them regain their foothold in the state’s political landscape.
