**Leeds, UK -** The Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) has announced the appointment of Gavin Hamilton as their new General Manager of Cricket. This newly created role will be responsible for delivering success across all formats of the game for the Club.
Hamilton, a former international cricketer for both England and Scotland, brings a wealth of experience to the position. He previously held Managing Director (MD) roles in leading hospitality and sport industry organizations, including PURE Co and the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA).
Hamilton’s strong cricketing knowledge stems from a successful playing career that saw him rise through the ranks of Yorkshire’s academy to become a capped player in 1998. He was a part of the Championship winning team in 2001 and also played for Durham CCC.
“I am delighted to be starting my new role at The Yorkshire County Cricket Club, the club where I started my career and enjoyed over a decade playing with some great players,” said Hamilton. “My ambition is to support the Club in achieving sustainable success and to encourage and improve the players and the teams both on and off the pitch.”
Sanjay Patel, Interim CEO for YCCC, expressed confidence in Hamilton’s ability to lead the cricket team to success. “We were impressed by Gavin’s cricket knowledge, business acumen and ability to bring people together,” Patel said. “We are confident that he will work with the excellent team here at the Club to achieve that vision.”
Hamilton will officially begin his new role on November 1st. He joins the YCCC executive team at a time of significant ambition for the club, with a strong focus on achieving success for both the men’s and women’s teams.
