Wed Sep 18 17:10:00 UTC 2024: ## 14-Year-Old Johnsonville Student Killed in Early Morning Shooting
**Florence, SC** – Florence County School District 5 is mourning the loss of 14-year-old Jakari Doctor, who was fatally shot early Tuesday morning, September 18th, at the Liberty Street Apartments. A second individual was also injured in the shooting and is currently receiving medical treatment.
According to a press release from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, both victims were transported to local hospitals following the incident. The Florence County Coroner, Keith von Lutcken, confirmed Doctor’s death.
The Florence County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the shooting.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one of our students,” stated Florence County School District 5 in a Facebook post. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends affected by this devastating event.”
The school district has announced that counselors and support services will be available for students, staff, and families impacted by this tragedy.
