Wed Sep 18 17:57:48 UTC 2024: ## Diamondbacks Outright Catcher Andrew Knizner to Triple-A Reno, Release Dylan Floro

**PHOENIX, AZ** – The Arizona Diamondbacks have made several roster moves, including out righting catcher Andrew Knizner to Triple-A Reno and releasing right-hander Dylan Floro.

Knizner, 28, was designated for assignment on Saturday to make room for left-hander Brandon Hughes. He was claimed off waivers on August 8 after Gabriel Moreno sustained an injury. Now that Moreno is healthy, the D-backs will move forward with him as their starting catcher, with Jose Herrera as backup. Rookie Adrian Del Castillo has been optioned to Triple-A Reno to work on his defense.

Knizner has the option to opt for free agency after the season with more than three years of service time. However, his path to the major league roster with the Diamondbacks is limited, as he is currently fourth on the team’s depth chart behind Moreno, Herrera, and Del Castillo.

Floro, 33, was acquired at the trade deadline and struggled in his time with the Diamondbacks, posting a 9.37 ERA in 15 appearances. He lacked the velocity and effectiveness that made him successful in the past. His performance left him expendable for the D-backs, who are looking to solidify their bullpen.
