Thu Sep 19 03:47:00 UTC 2024: ## Suspect in I-75 Shooting Found Dead, Thanks to YouTuber Couple
**LAUREL COUNTY, KENTUCKY** – Authorities have confirmed that they have found the body of Joseph Couch, the suspect in a shooting incident on I-75 that left five motorists injured. Couch’s body was discovered deep in the woods, with the help of a pair of local YouTubers.
The shooting occurred on September 7th, leaving victims with serious injuries, including one shot in the face. Couch was identified as the suspect after his vehicle was found near the scene. He was believed to have purchased an AR-15 style rifle and 1,000 rounds of ammunition on the day of the attack. He later texted a woman, “I’m going to kill a lot of people. Well try at least.”
The search for Couch was complicated by the remote location of the shooting. The woods in the area are dense and difficult to navigate. However, on Wednesday, state troopers, assisted by a couple who were also searching for the suspect, stumbled upon the body.
The couple, Fred and Shelia McCoy, run a local museum dedicated to the Hatfield-McCoy feud and also a YouTube channel dedicated to the same topic. They were livestreaming their search for Couch when they came across the body.
Fred McCoy, a retired police chief, is praised by authorities for his cooperation and assistance in the search.
Kentucky State Police Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. expressed confidence that this discovery brings closure to the search for Couch. The body will be sent to a lab for positive identification.
