**Terre Haute, IN** – The Terre Haute South girls soccer team celebrated a hard-fought victory on Wednesday, defeating their crosstown rivals, the Terre Haute North Patriots, 4-1. This win marks the Braves’ first Ball trophy since 2012, breaking a long-standing streak against North.

The first half saw a tight match with South dominating possession but only finding the back of the net once, courtesy of Ellie Luken. The Patriots came out strong in the second half, tying the score on a penalty kick by Amaya Phillips. However, South rallied back, scoring three unanswered goals to secure the victory. Kennidy Dillion broke the tie, followed by goals from Alayla Connelly and Kate Telle.

“I’m really proud of this team,” said South coach Courtney Hubbard, highlighting the strong leadership of captains Margo Mallory and Alyssa DePasquale.

North coach Kyle Baker acknowledged South’s talent and acknowledged his team’s youth, stating they “have a lot of potential for the future.”

The Braves will look to carry this momentum into their next match, hosting Pike on Saturday. The Patriots will travel to Columbus North on the same day.
