**Foynes, County Limerick:** Two paramedics from the National Ambulance Service (NAS) have been hailed as heroes after rescuing an unconscious man from a burning apartment in Foynes, County Limerick.

The incident occurred shortly after midday when a fire broke out in an apartment above a local business. The paramedics, en route to a separate call, noticed the smoke and immediately stopped their ambulance. They then gained entry to the building and found the man unconscious inside the burning apartment, which was filled with thick black smoke from a burning couch.

Despite the dangerous conditions, the paramedics swiftly carried the man out of the building and revived him. Local firefighters arrived shortly after and brought the blaze under control. The man was then transported to a hospital in Limerick City.

The National Ambulance Service has commended the paramedics for their bravery and professionalism, stating that their actions “exemplify the dedication and courage that define our service.”

A Garda spokesperson confirmed the fire incident and stated that the local fire brigade had extinguished the blaze.
