Thu Sep 19 12:07:44 UTC 2024: ## Australia’s Winning Streak Faces New-Look England in ODI Series
**Nottingham, England:** The reigning world champions, Australia, are set to face a revamped England side in the first of five ODIs at Trent Bridge on Thursday, September 19th. Australia brings a formidable 12-game winning streak to the series, while England, under new captain Harry Brook and coach Brendon McCullum (who takes over in January), are eager to prove their mettle.
Australia’s squad boasts a formidable line-up with the return of star players like Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Marnus Labuschagne, and Alex Carey. However, they are facing potential injury concerns with Josh Inglis (quad soreness) and illness affecting Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Glenn Maxwell.
England has a fresh look with a new captain and several uncapped players including Jacob Bethell, Jordan Cox, and John Turner. The team will be led by Brook, replacing Jos Buttler who is recovering from a calf injury. Liam Livingstone, who missed the initial squad, is back in the ODI set-up and eager to solidify his place.
The series marks the first time these two cricketing powerhouses have met since Australia ended England’s 2023 World Cup campaign with a 33-run victory in Ahmedabad last November.
The first ODI at Trent Bridge will be broadcast live on Foxtel and Kayo Sports at 9.30pm AEST. The series will then move to Headingley, Leeds; Riverside, Chester-le-Street; Lord’s, London; and County Ground, Bristol.
