**JAMMU:** The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu has achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing its first surgical intervention. The procedure, a “Superficial Parotidectomy,” involved the removal of a tumor from a 34-year-old female patient’s parotid gland, carefully preserving the facial nerve.
The surgery was performed by the Department of ENT, Head & Neck Surgery, led by Dr. Darwin Kaushal, Dr. Amardeep Singh, and Dr. Pooja Rani. The procedure was expertly supported by the anesthesia team and nursing officers.
Executive Director & CEO of AIIMS Jammu, Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, lauded the surgical team for their outstanding efforts and dedicated the successful operation as a birthday gift to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Today’s achievement is not just a milestone for AIIMS Jammu but a testament to the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of our entire team,” said Prof. Gupta. He also expressed gratitude to the people of Jammu for their faith in the institute.
The establishment of AIIMS Jammu was announced and inaugurated under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) by Prime Minister Modi, signifying his commitment to improving healthcare accessibility across India.
