**Surrey, B.C. -** The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced the seizure of nearly 1,280 litres of liquid methamphetamine at the Fraser Surrey Docks in Surrey, B.C., with an estimated street value of $2 million.
The seizure occurred on June 27th when CBSA officers, assisted by sniffer dogs, examined a container bound for export to Australia. They noticed anomalies in the packaging of bottles labelled as apple and grape juice. Upon further inspection, officers discovered 1,320 bottles filled with methamphetamine.
Following the seizure, the CBSA collaborated with Australian law enforcement agencies, leading to the arrest and charging of three individuals in Australia in connection with the shipment.
“I want to thank the CBSA, the RCMP and our Australian law enforcement partners for their excellent work in disrupting organized crime and protecting our communities from dangerous drugs,” stated Canada’s Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc.
The seizure of this large quantity of methamphetamine highlights the ongoing efforts of the CBSA to combat the illegal drug trade. This seizure follows a trend of significant drug seizures by the agency, with a reported 6.2 million grams of narcotics, drugs, and chemicals, including methamphetamine, seized in the first quarter of 2024.
