Thu Sep 19 05:57:59 UTC 2024: ## Mohun Bagan Stumbles in AFC Champions League Debut with Frustrating Draw

**Kolkata, India** – Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s AFC Champions League Two campaign got off to a disappointing start on Wednesday, as they were held to a goalless draw against Tajikistan’s FC Ravshan at the Salt Lake Stadium. Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, the ISL Shield Champions failed to find the back of the net, leaving fans frustrated and calling for the head of coach Juan Ferrando.

The draw marks Mohun Bagan’s second consecutive game without a win. They previously lost the Durand Cup final to NorthEast United FC after squandering a two-goal lead, adding further pressure on the Spanish manager.

The Green and Maroons were guilty of missing several easy opportunities throughout the match. Jason Cummings, Dimitri Petratos, and Liston Calco all failed to convert clear-cut chances, with Cummings in particular drawing ire for a tame shot from a one-on-one situation with the Ravshan goalkeeper.

The lack of finishing was evident in the final tally: Mohun Bagan managed just two shots on target from a total of 11 attempts.

While the attacking woes were the main talking point, defensive lapses also raised concerns. Both Dippendu Biswas and Ashish Rai were lucky to escape further punishment for rash challenges in the first half.

The result has put Mohun Bagan in a difficult position early in the tournament. They will need to regroup and improve their finishing significantly if they are to progress in the competition. Their next group game is against Iranian side Tractor, and they will also face NorthEast United FC and Bengaluru FC in the ISL.
