Wed Sep 18 23:13:04 UTC 2024: ## Mohun Bagan Held to Goalless Draw in AFC Champions League Opener
**Kolkata, India:** Mohun Bagan Super Giant started their AFC Champions League Two campaign with a frustrating goalless draw against Tajikistan’s Ravshan Kulob at the Salt Lake Stadium on Wednesday. Despite dominating the second half, the Indian side was denied a late winner by an offside call.
The first half saw a lackluster performance from both teams, with neither side able to break through the other’s defense. However, Mohun Bagan turned up the pressure in the second half, creating numerous chances but failing to find the back of the net.
Star striker Dimitri Petratos looked particularly dangerous, nearly breaking the deadlock with a free-kick in the first half. In the 88th minute, he finally found the net, expertly finishing a pass from Greg Stewart. However, the linesman raised his flag, deeming Petratos offside, much to the disappointment of the home crowd.
Despite the missed opportunity, Mohun Bagan will be looking to carry their second-half momentum into their next match against Iran’s Tractor FC on October 2nd in Tabriz.
The match was a close affair, with both sides showcasing their defensive strength. Mohun Bagan will need to sharpen their attacking instincts if they hope to progress further in the tournament.
