**Allen Township, MI** – A 2-year-old girl was tragically killed after being struck by a vehicle on Friday night in Allen Township, Michigan. According to Michigan State Police, the child, who had reportedly left her home after being put to bed, was found in the roadway around 8:20 p.m.
Authorities believe the toddler walked into the street and was hit by a 38-year-old man driving a 2012 VW Jetta. The driver, whose identity has not been released, was not believed to be impaired by alcohol or drugs. It is unclear at this time whether any charges will be filed.
The child was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The Michigan State Police Jackson Post is conducting an ongoing investigation and an autopsy will be performed.
