Wed Sep 18 14:13:25 UTC 2024: ## Jio Simplifies SIM Card Acquisition with New eSIM Service
**Mumbai, India:** Jio, India’s leading telecom operator, has made it significantly easier for customers to obtain a new SIM card. With the introduction of their “iActivate” service, users can now purchase and activate eSIMs directly from their smartphones or tablets with eSIM support – all without leaving the comfort of their homes.
Previously, acquiring a Jio SIM required home delivery with a Jio representative visiting the user’s location to complete the KYC (Know Your Customer) process. However, the iActivate feature streamlines the process, enabling users to complete the self-KYC verification themselves via the My Jio app. This involves uploading a live photo or video and relevant supporting documents.
To activate an eSIM using iActivate, users will need their device’s IMEI and EID (unique to each device), along with an alternative phone number and email address. While Jio assigns a random phone number upon eSIM activation, users opting for home delivery can select a preferred number from the available options.
The increasing availability of eSIM-enabled smartphones and tablets, including iPads with cellular connectivity and select Samsung Galaxy S series models, makes this initiative particularly beneficial for customers seeking a convenient SIM acquisition method.
The new iActivate service is particularly advantageous in areas with limited Jio retail outlets. It significantly simplifies the process of acquiring a new Jio connection, making it more accessible to a wider audience.
