**UDHAGAMANDALAM, September 17, 2024:** The Nilgiris District Health Department has initiated preventative measures against the Nipah virus, following the recent death of a person in Malappuram, Kerala. Health workers are screening visitors from Kerala at interstate border checkposts, specifically focusing on body temperature and potential symptoms of illness.

Tourists entering the Nilgiris from Kerala are being advised to wear masks throughout their visit. While no suspected cases of Nipah virus have been reported in the district, health officials are taking precautions due to the increased influx of tourists from Kerala during the Onam and Milad-un-Nabi holidays.
