**New Delhi:** Arvind Kejriwal has resigned as the Chief Minister of Delhi today, following his bail in the Delhi liquor police case. He announced he would step down until the AAP is re-elected in the upcoming state polls, claiming it is the “people’s order.”

Atishi, the current Delhi Education Minister, has been elected as the new leader of the legislature party and will take over as the Chief Minister.

The decision was made at a meeting of AAP MLAs today, where party leader Dilip Pandey suggested Mr. Kejriwal decide on the new Chief Minister. Mr. Kejriwal proposed Atishi’s name, which was unanimously accepted by all AAP MLAs.

Atishi, an Oxford University graduate and Rhodes scholar, has been instrumental in the AAP’s successful education reforms in Delhi. She currently holds key portfolios including Education and Public Works Department.
