Taiwanese actress Shu Qi has wrapped production on her first feature film as director, titled “Girl.” The film, which is an original story written and directed by Shu Qi, is shrouded in secrecy with details about the plot and cast yet to be revealed.

“Girl” was developed over an extended period and is financed by a consortium of Taiwanese production companies: CMC Entertainment, Wow momentum, J.Q. Pictures, and Aranya Pictures. Mandarin Vision, the company behind acclaimed films like “A Sun” and “The Great Buddha+,” is producing the film. Yeh Jufeng, known for his successful track record, serves as the executive producer.

While a release date is yet to be confirmed, the film is expected to be completed in 2025. Mandarin Vision will handle international sales outside of mainland China.

“I am so happy that the filming is wrapped. I look forward to sharing this film with audiences everywhere,” Shu Qi expressed in a statement.

Known for her versatile performances in films like Hou Hsiao-hsien’s “Millennium Mumbo” and “The Assassin,” Feng Xiaogang’s “If You Are the One” trilogy, and Luc Besson’s “The Transporter,” Shu Qi has received numerous accolades including Golden Horse Film Awards and Asian Film Awards for her acting.

Her foray into directing marks a new chapter in her illustrious career and promises to be a captivating exploration of the cinematic arts.
