Wed Sep 18 03:52:53 UTC 2024: ## Suspicious Mail Containing White Powder Sent to Election Offices Across the Country
**Washington, D.C. -** A series of suspicious mailings containing white powder have been sent to election offices in at least a dozen states, sparking investigations and evacuations.
The packages, sent over the course of a week, were intercepted in Arizona, Georgia, Connecticut, and Maryland before reaching their intended destinations. Other suspicious mail reached offices in New York, Tennessee, Wyoming, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Colorado.
While none of the packages have been deemed dangerous – one was found to contain flour – their discovery prompted evacuations at several locations.
The FBI and U.S. Postal Inspection Service are jointly investigating the incidents. “Some of the letters contained an unknown substance and we are working closely with our law enforcement partners to respond to each incident and safely collect the letters,” said the FBI in a statement. The agency is also working to determine the number of letters sent, the individuals responsible, and the motive behind the mailings.
One package sent to Colorado reportedly had a return address of the “U.S. Traitor Elimination Army”. On Monday, offices in Kansas and Wyoming were evacuated as a precaution after receiving similar packages.
This incident echoes a similar occurrence last November where suspicious envelopes were sent to election offices in Washington, Texas, Oregon, Nevada, California, and Georgia. Four of these envelopes tested positive for fentanyl.
