Bethesda has unveiled their first expansion for their spacefaring RPG, Starfield, with a deep dive into the upcoming “Shattered Space” DLC. This expansion focuses on House Va’ruun, a secretive cult worshipping an intergalactic entity known as The Great Serpent, and a catastrophic gravitational experiment gone awry.
The DLC takes place entirely on Va’ruun’kai, a planet ravaged by the experiment, with gravity pockets warping the landscape. Players will explore this devastated world, encountering survivors in makeshift camps outside the ruined city. The experience promises to be dense and hand-crafted, addressing criticisms of Starfield’s sparse open-world gameplay.
“Shattered Space” emphasizes melee combat with enemies that close gaps rapidly and even teleport. The expansion takes on a horror vibe, a stark contrast to the game’s more lighthearted moments. Bethesda promises a deeper dive into Va’ruun’kai’s cult society and the enigmatic Great Serpent, leaving players to question what they revere or fear.
