Mon Sep 16 13:58:35 UTC 2024: ## New York Officials Seek Public’s Help Identifying Unidentified Murder Victim Found on Gilgo Beach

**Long Island, NY -** Suffolk County officials are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an unidentified Asian victim found on Gilgo Beach in 2011. The victim, known as “Asian Doe,” was a biological male but was wearing women’s clothing at the time of their death.

District Attorney Ray Tierney revealed that the victim was between 17 and 23 years old, stood between 5’3″ and 5’9″, and likely died from blunt-force trauma. The victim’s clothing has been identified as a Chrysantheme brand blue ribbed shirt, a Rafaella brand shirt, Bill Blass pants, and a bra.

Tierney described the victim’s death as a violent assault, noting that the individual may have been a sex worker. The death occurred at least five years prior to April 4, 2011, and authorities believe the victim was of Han Chinese descent.

Despite utilizing investigative genetic genealogy, the investigation has been hindered by the underrepresentation of South Asian profiles in existing databases. Officials are hoping that the public’s help will be instrumental in identifying “Asian Doe,” who “had a name, family, and friends,” Tierney emphasized.

“This is a call to action,” Tierney stated, “We want to enlist the public’s help in trying to identify ‘Asian Doe.'”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS or via email or mobile app at https://suffolkpd.org/Alerts/Crime-Stoppers. A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered for information leading to the identification of “Asian Doe.”

This development comes as Rex Heuermann, 61, remains in custody facing charges in the murders of six women found near Gilgo Beach. Heuermann was initially charged with the murders of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, and Amber Costello, collectively known as the Gilgo Four. He was later charged with the killings of Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla.

Authorities have revealed a “planning document” recovered from Heuermann’s home that they believe outlines his intent and methodology in committing these murders. This document, along with 15 cameras, 27 computers, 46 cell phones, and over 30 hard drives, was seized from Heuermann’s residence.

The investigation continues, with officials exploring possible connections between Heuermann and other victims found on Gilgo Beach. Heuermann maintains his innocence and is scheduled to appear in court on October 16th. A trial date has yet to be set.
