Wed Sep 18 04:23:45 UTC 2024: ## Rochester Adams Upsets Unbeaten Troy in Tight OAA Red Soccer Match

**TROY, MI -** In a hard-fought clash for the top spot in the Oakland Activities Association Red Division, Rochester Adams stunned the previously unbeaten Troy Colts with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday.

The Highlanders struck early, taking the lead just under six minutes into the match when Brendan Duff launched a long ball from the left flank towards Salvatore Dinoto. Dinoto, anticipating the pass, chipped the ball over the charging Troy goalkeeper for the decisive goal.

Despite Troy controlling possession, particularly in the second half, the Colts struggled to create clear-cut chances. The Highlanders, while holding Adams to only three shots on goal, remained defensively solid, stifling any Troy advances.

“We worked so hard, and on another day, those chances go in. Unfortunately, today they didn’t,” said Troy head coach Adam Spinks. “They’re a very hard team to break down, and I’m confident we would have won if we had scored.”

Adams head coach Josh Hickey praised his team’s resilience and ability to recover from any pressure Troy applied. “They’re a good team, they’re going to break you down, but I thought we recovered well,” he stated. “We’re confident with our goalkeeper, but it’s those second balls that matter most, and we did well with them tonight.”

The match saw its fair share of heated exchanges, with both teams picking up yellow cards and eventually resulting in a red card for each side in the final ten minutes. Despite the heightened intensity, neither team was able to capitalize on the opportunity for additional scoring.

With the win, Rochester Adams improves to 7-1-3 overall and 3-1-1 in the OAA Red, tightening the race for the division title. Troy, despite their first loss of the season, remains in contention with a 6-1 overall record and 3-1 mark in the OAA Red.
