**MUMBAI, INDIA -** Amazon Prime Video has announced its latest unscripted venture, a Hindi-language adaptation of the global phenomenon, “The Traitors.” The popular psychological reality format, originating in the Netherlands, will see its Indian debut with production already underway.
The show, created by All3Media’s IDTV, has already been commissioned in over 25 markets, including the UK and US, where it recently achieved a significant milestone. The US adaptation, hosted by Alan Cumming, won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, marking the first time Peacock has won the prestigious award for an original series.
The Indian adaptation of “The Traitors” will be produced by BBC Studios India Productions and hosted by renowned filmmaker and TV personality, Karan Johar. The format features 20 contestants battling for a cash prize in a game of truth and deception. The “faithfuls” must decipher the “traitors” hidden within the group, adding layers of suspense and strategic gameplay.
