Mon Sep 16 16:03:31 UTC 2024: ## Pitt Coach Narduzzi Fined $5,000 for Criticizing Officials After Win Over West Virginia

**Pittsburgh, PA** – Pittsburgh Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi has been fined $5,000 and publicly reprimanded by the ACC for criticizing game officials following his team’s thrilling 38-34 victory over West Virginia in Week 3.

Narduzzi’s comments came during the post-game broadcast after the Panthers mounted a late comeback against their rivals. Pitt was penalized 12 times for 112 yards in the game, which prompted Narduzzi to express his frustration with the officiating.

“Some of the calls we got… I’ve never seen anything like it,” Narduzzi said in the postgame interview. “We beat West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl and we beat the officials all in one game.”

Despite the officiating, Pitt rallied from a 34-24 deficit with just three minutes remaining to secure the win. This marks the second consecutive week the Panthers overcame a large deficit to defeat a Big 12 opponent, having previously come back from a 27-6 deficit to defeat Cincinnati in Week 2.

With the win, Pitt is now 3-0 for the first time in a non-pandemic season since 2014, the last year of the Paul Chryst era. Alabama quarterback transfer Eli Holstein has been a standout performer, surpassing 300 passing yards and throwing three touchdowns in each of his three starts.

Narduzzi acknowledged his responsibility for the comments in a statement. “Saturday was an exciting and emotional win for Pitt,” he said. “I’m proud of the way our team responded to the challenge to earn a hard-fought victory. I take responsibility for my postgame comments and, like the ACC, consider this matter over and done with.”
