**PIERCE, NE** – The Pierce Bluejays volleyball team demonstrated remarkable mental toughness on Tuesday night, overcoming large deficits in the first two sets to defeat the No. 2 ranked Battle Creek Bravettes in a thrilling 3-0 sweep.

The match was a clash of titans, with both teams ranked among the top in Class C. The Bluejays, ranked No. 4, found themselves trailing early in both the first and second sets. However, they rallied late in both sets, using a combination of strong serving and aggressive offense to secure the victories.

Junior outside hitter Abbie Cone led the Bluejays with 16 kills, while sophomore Nora Herian added 18 kills. Skylar Scholting had a dominant performance setting the ball, dishing out 38 assists for Pierce.

Despite losing the first two sets, the Bravettes fought hard throughout the match. Sophie Humphrey and Sami Wemhoff led their team with 9 kills each, but they ultimately couldn’t overcome the Bluejays’ resilience.

“We certainly made it a lot harder than it had to be,” said Bluejays coach Zach Weber. “But a huge credit to Battle Creek. They served aggressive, and we knew that.”

The third set saw Pierce dominate from start to finish, scoring the first four points and never looking back.

This victory showcased the Bluejays’ ability to overcome adversity and stay focused even when facing difficult circumstances. It’s a victory that could serve as a springboard for the team as they continue their pursuit of a state championship.
