**Pittsburgh, PA** – Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him in the Steel City for at least three more seasons. The 37-year-old superstar’s deal, which has an average annual value of $8.7 million, extends through the 2026-27 season.

The contract, considered team-friendly by many, signifies Crosby’s dedication to winning with the Penguins. Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas praised Crosby’s commitment, calling him “one of the greatest players in the history of the game.”

“Sid is making a tremendous personal sacrifice in an effort to help the Penguins win, both now and in the future, as he has done for his entire career,” Dubas said.

Crosby, who is entering the final season of his previous 12-year contract, has led the Penguins to three Stanley Cup championships. He is currently 10th on the NHL’s all-time points list with 1,596. Last season, he recorded 42 goals and 94 points, finishing 12th in the league scoring race.

The Penguins open training camp on Wednesday and begin the regular season on October 9th against the New York Rangers.
