**Bhubaneswar, Odisha:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched the Subhadra Yojana, a groundbreaking scheme aimed at empowering women in Odisha. The scheme, which will provide financial assistance of ₹50,000 over five years to one crore women between the ages of 21 and 60, saw over 25 lakh women receive the first tranche of ₹5,000 on Tuesday.

The launch coincided with PM Modi’s birthday and saw him laying the foundation stones for railway projects worth ₹2,871 crore and state national highway projects worth ₹1,000 crore virtually. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Governor Ganeshi Lal, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and other Odisha government ministers were present at the ceremony.

In addition to the Subhadra Yojana, PM Modi released the first installment of financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAYG) to approximately 13 lakh beneficiaries across 14 states. He also met with a beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban at her residence in Bhubaneswar, where she served him kheer for his birthday.

CM Patnaik praised the Subhadra Yojana, calling it “revolutionary” and stating that it would help women realize their dreams. The scheme has been hailed as a key factor in the BJP’s recent electoral success in Odisha.
