**LAKEWOOD, OHIO** – Evan Suttell, a 25-year-old Lakewood native, achieved his goal of winning at least one game on “Jeopardy!” on Friday, September 13th. Suttell, a trivia enthusiast with a background in international relations and global studies, bested his opponents and earned $20,200.
Suttell’s experience on the quiz bowl team at Lakewood High School and Michigan State University, as well as his participation in a quiz team at the University of Denver, proved valuable during his “Jeopardy!” run.
Despite his lack of confidence in the final category of British Knights on Friday, Suttell correctly identified Ringo Starr as the drummer who learned to play while in a sanatorium.
However, Suttell’s “Jeopardy!” victory was short-lived. He competed again on Monday, September 16th, but was ultimately defeated by Aiden Orzech, a teacher from Thornhill, Ontario, Canada.
Though he didn’t win the second game, Suttell was able to wager aggressively and correctly answered the Final Jeopardy! question about the sinking of the USS Maine.
Suttell, a nonprofit program assistant with the National Environmental Health Association, spoke highly of the “Jeopardy!” team and his fellow contestants, calling the experience “awesome.”
He hopes his appearance inspires others to pursue their own intellectual pursuits.
