**ABUJA, NIGERIA** – The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced a major success in its ongoing fight against violent crime, reporting the arrest of over 700 suspects and the recovery of hundreds of weapons and stolen vehicles in the past month.
Led by Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the operations targeted various criminal activities, including murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, and unlawful possession of firearms.

The NPF attributed the success of these operations to strategic planning and tactical execution.

The NPF acknowledged that it faces significant challenges, including chronic underfunding, which hinders its modernization and capacity to tackle crime effectively.
However, the Force remains committed to reducing crime rates and upholding the Rule of Law. Ongoing police reform efforts, supported by international partners like Germany and the UNDP, aim to improve accountability, transparency, and professionalism within the NPF.
These reforms include strengthening the Complaints Response Unit (CRU) to address misconduct, and promoting the role of external oversight bodies like the Police Service Commission and the National Human Rights Commission.
