Tue Sep 17 06:41:28 UTC 2024: ## Family’s Obstruction Hinders Investigation into 8-Year-Old’s Death in Turkey

**Diyarbakır, Turkey** – The investigation into the death of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose body was found in a stream after a 19-day search, has been hampered by efforts from her family members to hinder the probe.

Narin’s mother, Yüksel Güran, and brother, Enes Güran, are facing charges of intentional homicide after suspicion fell on the family. The case took a significant turn with the confession of Nevzat Bahtiyar, who admitted to placing Narin’s body in the stream. Bahtiyar was arrested alongside Narin’s uncle, Salim Güran, who remains the prime suspect.

The investigation has resulted in the arrest of 11 individuals, including a teenage worker at Salim Güran’s business. Family members are accused of filing over 50 false reports, staging power outages, and setting fires to obstruct investigators. Two more relatives were detained for destroying evidence and aiding the guilty.

The gendarmerie report revealed that several suspects attempted to mislead search teams away from the stream where Narin’s body was found. One uncle, Fuat Güran, allegedly tried to eavesdrop on the gendarmerie during the search, while his wife, Hediye Güran, remains in detention.

While the cause of Narin’s death remains unconfirmed due to the state of her body, there were no signs of external injuries or internal bleeding. An autopsy revealed no DNA belonging to another individual on the girl’s body, according to the Diyarbakır bar association.

Despite the obstacles, the investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover the truth behind Narin’s tragic death.
