Mon Sep 16 14:03:15 UTC 2024: ## Morata Raring to Go as Milan Face Liverpool in Champions League Opener

**Milan, Italy** – Alvaro Morata has declared his excitement for Milan’s upcoming Champions League opener against Liverpool, describing the clash at San Siro as a potential “Champions League Final”.

“I’ve been dreaming of games like this since I joined the club,” Morata said at a press conference. “Milan-Liverpool could be a Final, but it’s only the first match. We want to make our fans proud. We can’t wait to play this match.”

Morata, who recovered from injury and is expected to start, highlighted the significance of the Champions League, stating: “It’s different from everything else. There are the best teams in Europe. Everyone knows how important the Champions League is.”

The striker has a history of success against Liverpool, having scored three goals in five matches, including one that helped his former club, Atletico Madrid, qualify for the 2019-20 Champions League quarter-finals. However, he insists “it’s in the past” and the focus is on the current challenge.

“If you play for Milan, you must dream,” he said. “You look at the patch, and you see the No. 7 [Champions League victories], so you must fight for the people. This team has so much quality and can beat anyone.”

Morata, who previously played in the Premier League for Chelsea, discussed the differences between the English and Italian leagues, acknowledging the physicality of the Premier League but recognizing the evolution of Italian football.

“There are high-level teams, and it’s more similar to the Premier League now,” he said. “It’s a pleasure to be back to Italy.”

Looking ahead to the match, Morata is confident in his fitness and the strength of the Milan squad. He praised the team’s quality, stating that they have “many players who would play in the best teams in Europe.”

Despite the upcoming Milan derby against Inter on Sunday, Morata insists the focus is solely on Tuesday’s clash with Liverpool: “We only think about tomorrow.”
