**DEMOTTE, Ind. (CBS)** – A 26-year-old father of two, Rhyker Earl, died after being handcuffed and pinned to the floor by Jasper County Sheriff’s officers during a medical emergency on September 8th.

Earl’s family called 911 after he suffered a seizure at their home in DeMotte, Indiana. According to the family, Earl was still recovering from the seizure, confused and agitated, when he fell into an officer. The officers then reportedly responded by handcuffing Earl and pinning him face down on the floor.

Witnesses say multiple officers remained on top of Earl while EMTs administered sedatives. Earl’s aunt, Miracle Gawlinski, claims he pleaded for his life, saying “I can’t breathe! Help me!” during the incident.

After approximately 15 minutes, Earl went limp and turned blue. An EMT confirmed he was no longer breathing. Despite attempts at resuscitation, Earl could not be revived. He was taken off life support on September 10th.
