Tue Sep 17 05:11:56 UTC 2024: ## Elderly Man Kidnapped and Abandoned After Attack in Oldham
**Oldham, England** – An 87-year-old man was brutally attacked and kidnapped in Oldham, Greater Manchester, before being abandoned 15 miles away in Rishworth, West Yorkshire. The incident occurred on Sunday evening between 8pm and 9:30pm as the victim was walking home from the Oldham Central Mosque.
According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), two men, described as Asian and potentially Bangladeshi, forced the elderly man into a black car. They allegedly blindfolded him, threatened and attacked him, tearing his clothing. The victim was eventually pushed out of the car on a dark road in unfamiliar surroundings, with no means of communication. He was left with serious injuries.
The victim managed to find help at a house on Oldham Road in Rishworth around 10:40pm, approximately an hour after being abandoned. Police believe he may have been left near the Turnpike pub.
Detectives are seeking the two men who were seen drinking alcohol from a bottle. They are described as being around 25 to 30 years old, wearing T-shirts.
“This was an awful attack on an elderly man who was simply walking down the street,” said Det Insp Emma Hulston. “It was a disturbing act that we are fully investigating.”
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, as this could have had more serious, even fatal, consequences.
