**Mumbai, India** – Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s leading automotive manufacturer, today launched its new light commercial vehicle (LCV), the Veero, priced starting at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Veero is positioned in the 2-ton to 3.5-ton category and is built on Mahindra’s innovative Urban Prosper Platform (UPP), India’s first multi-energy modular CV platform.
The UPP is designed to support payloads from 1 ton to 2+ ton, offering multiple deck lengths and accommodating various powertrain options, including diesel, CNG, and electric. Currently, the Veero is available with diesel and CNG powertrains, with an electric version expected to be released at a later date.
The Veero offers two engine options: a 1.5-litre mDI diesel (80hp, 210Nm torque) and a Turbo mCNG (90hp, 210Nm torque), both paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The diesel variant boasts a claimed mileage of 18.4 km/l, while the CNG variant achieves 19.2 km/kg and a range of over 500 km with a 5-litre petrol tank. Mahindra claims a service interval of 20,000km for the Veero.
The Veero features customizable cargo options, offering two cargo lengths – 2,765mm (XL) and 3,035mm (XXL) – and three cargo types: CBC, Standard Deck (SD), and High Deck (HD). The payload capacity reaches 1.6 ton for the diesel version and 1.5 ton for the CNG version. With a turning radius of 5.1 meters, Mahindra claims the Veero offers the best maneuverability in its segment.
The Veero is available in three trims: V2, V4, and V6. Safety features include adherence to AIS096 crash safety standards, high-strength steel (HSS) construction, a driver airbag, reverse parking camera, false start avoidance system, and an immobiliser. The spacious cabin offers a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, AC with heater and demister, steering-mounted controls, a full TFT cluster, power windows, and seating for three. The Veero also boasts the iMAXX connected vehicle technology, offering over 50 connectivity features.
Mahindra is confident the Veero, with its robust features, versatility, and affordability, will be a strong contender in the LCV market.
