Wed Sep 18 07:57:08 UTC 2024: ## Mahindra Unveils New Small Commercial Vehicle: The Veero

Mahindra has launched its latest small commercial vehicle, the Veero, targeting the Indian SCV market with a starting price of ₹7.99 lakh for the V2 variant. The company is confident the Veero will be a game-changer, boasting a design inspired by Mahindra’s SUVs and numerous first-in-segment features.

**Aesthetics Meet Functionality:**

While the Veero boasts a modern and powerful design, it’s the practical features that will likely appeal most to buyers. With a payload capacity of up to 1,600kg and ten- and nine-foot cargo body options, the Veero is adaptable for various intra-city applications. Mahindra highlights the Veero’s strengthened cargo hold frame, eliminating the need for reinforcement for different cargo types and allowing for a higher payload than the prescribed capacity.

**Comfort and Convenience in the Cabin:**

The Veero prioritizes comfort and convenience with an ergonomically designed interior, featuring a reclining driver seat, foldable passenger and driver seats, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android integration. This system, though lacking Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, allows users to mirror their phones for entertainment.

**Performance and Efficiency:**

Mahindra aims to deliver a car-like driving experience with two engine options: a 1.5-litre diesel producing 78 bhp and a turbo CNG engine delivering 88 bhp. Both are paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, offering responsive performance with high torque output at low RPMs. The Veero achieves a smooth and quiet ride, even on rough roads, and its agile handling and large mirrors make it highly manoeuvrable in tight spaces.

**Safety and Efficiency:**

Mahindra has prioritized safety in the Veero, incorporating a driver airbag, robust cabin structure, and chassis designed to absorb crash energy. Fuel efficiency is also a key feature, with ARAI-certified figures of 19.4kmpl for the diesel variant and 19.2km/kg for the CNG variant, promising a range exceeding 500 km. Maintenance costs are kept low with extended service intervals and free labour for periodic services.

**Targeted Offerings:**

Mahindra offers the Veero in three variants: V2, V4, and V6, with prices ranging from ₹7.99 lakh to ₹9.53 lakh. A standard warranty of 3 years or 1 lakh km is provided, and fleet operators can leverage the iMaxx app for vehicle tracking, remote controls, and service booking.

The Veero presents a compelling package with its combination of design, features, and performance. Mahindra’s optimistic outlook on its success remains to be seen, but the Veero certainly offers a promising proposition for the Indian SCV market.
