Wed Sep 18 08:52:46 UTC 2024: ## Last Lunar Eclipse of 2024 Occurs Today, Visible in Parts of the World

**New Delhi, India (September 18, 2024):** The second and final lunar eclipse of 2024, a partial penumbral eclipse, began this morning at 6:11 AM IST. This celestial event, where the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow on the lunar surface, will be visible in parts of Europe, Africa, Asia, and America.

According to astrologers, the eclipse is occurring in the Pisces zodiac sign and will have an impact on various zodiac signs. While the eclipse itself won’t be visible in India, the ‘sutak’ period, a period of time considered inauspicious, is observed in some places where the eclipse is visible.

The eclipse reached its peak at 8:14 AM IST, during which the maximum portion of the Moon was covered by the Earth’s shadow. The partial phase of the eclipse concluded at 8:45 AM IST.

This year’s final lunar eclipse is also being called a “supermoon” and a “harvest moon” as the Moon appears larger and brighter due to its close proximity to Earth.

NASA and various time-tracking websites are providing live feeds of the eclipse for those unable to witness it firsthand.

The eclipse is scheduled to end at 10:17 AM IST, concluding the celestial event for 2024.
