Wed Sep 18 03:51:43 UTC 2024: ## Rangers Surge Past Blue Jays, Heim Breaks Tie in 13-8 Win

**ARLINGTON, Texas** – Rookie Wyatt Langford had a stellar night, hitting a homer and two doubles, while Jonah Heim delivered a clutch two-run single to break a sixth-inning tie as the Texas Rangers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 13-8 on Tuesday.

Langford, who also walked twice, finished the game reaching base five times, a feat no other Ranger accomplished this season. He’s now got 12 homers and 25 doubles on the year. “I think it’s really important to finish on a strong note,” Langford said after the game.

Heim, struggling mightily in September, went 1-for-34 before his game-changing single off reliever Tommy Nance. His clutch hit put the Rangers up 9-7, a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

The Rangers had a total of 13 hits and left 13 runners on base, marking their highest-scoring game since May 7th.

Matt Festa earned the win, pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings, while starter Nathan Eovaldi had his worst start of the season, allowing 11 hits and 7 runs in 4 2/3 innings.

The Blue Jays, meanwhile, were hurt by defensive miscues, with six of the seven runs scored against Toronto starter Chris Bassitt being unearned.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. led the Blue Jays offense with a double and two singles, his best hitting performance since September 3rd.

The Blue Jays also activated Bo Bichette from the injured list, who returned after missing time with a calf injury.

The Rangers will look to extend their winning streak on Wednesday, with Chad Bradford scheduled to start against the Blue Jays’ Bowden Francis.
