**Cleveland, TN** – The Walker Valley Lady Mustangs secured a 2-0 victory over the East Hamilton Lady Hurricanes in their District 5-AAA opener on Tuesday evening at The MAC.

The game remained scoreless until the second half when two fouls by East Hamilton players resulted in goals for the Lady Mustangs. Junior AC Blackaby drew both fouls, and teammate Lyla Sims converted both penalties. The first foul was in the penalty box, leading to Sims scoring a penalty kick. The second foul, just outside the box, allowed Sims to score a free kick from 25 yards out.

Sims currently leads the team in scoring with 17 points, consisting of six goals and five assists. Blackaby is second with 12 points, having scored four goals and provided four assists.

Walker Valley goalkeeper Izzy Arguaer recorded five saves in the game, bringing her season total to 85.

The Lady Mustangs (3-6-3) will now face the Cleveland Lady Raiders (2-5-3) in a battle for first place in the district. The game is scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Walker Valley.

The victory marks a strong start to the district season for Walker Valley. Their next district matchup will be against Rhea County on September 26th.
