**Kathmandu, Nepal** – The French Embassy in Nepal hosted a special event to celebrate the achievements of Nepali athlete Palesha Goverdhan, the country’s first Paralympic medalist. Goverdhan, who won a bronze medal in the women’s 57kg category of Para Taekwondo at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, was recognized for her significant accomplishment.

French Ambassador Virginie Corteval praised Goverdhan’s determination and hard work, calling her a “beacon of hope” and a symbol of Nepali talent on the global stage. The event also highlighted the “Choose France/Marque France” initiative, which aims to foster collaboration between France and other nations in various fields, including business, culture, and education.

Goverdhan’s success, reflecting the spirit of perseverance and excellence, aligns with the values of this initiative. As part of the campaign, the Embassy announced the “Choose France Tour”, scheduled for September 28th at the Alliance Française. The tour will provide Nepali students with an opportunity to explore educational opportunities in France and interact with representatives from over 15 prestigious French institutions.

The event was attended by Nepal’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Teju Lal Chaudhary, along with sports representatives and business leaders.
