Wed Sep 18 11:52:29 UTC 2024: ## Atishi Sworn in as Delhi Chief Minister, Kejriwal Steps Back
**New Delhi:** Atishi, a senior AAP leader, was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi on Wednesday, following the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Raj Niwas, with Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena administering the oath.
Kejriwal, who resigned after a successful term, will now focus on campaigning for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. He will also be relinquishing all government facilities, including his official residence and Z-plus security, within the next 15 days.
Atishi’s appointment comes amid a power struggle with the BJP, who have criticized her as a “puppet CM.” The AAP has however defended her appointment, emphasizing her experience in handling various ministries.
The new Chief Minister has outlined two key tasks: to ensure the continuation of AAP’s popular schemes, such as free electricity and healthcare, and to secure Kejriwal’s return to the CM post after the Haryana elections.
Meanwhile, the BJP has come under fire for alleged threats made against Rahul Gandhi by its leaders. The Congress has filed a complaint with the Delhi Police accusing the BJP of threatening the former Congress president.
The NDMC, meanwhile, has been handed over to newly nominated members after the end of its tenure. However, key positions remain vacant, including those of non-official members.
The latest developments come against a backdrop of ongoing political tension in Delhi, with the AAP facing off against the BJP in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections.
