Tue Sep 17 06:53:46 UTC 2024: ## Fort McMurray Education Workers to Hold Press Conference Following Government’s “Unfair” Actions

**FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta** – Education workers in Fort McMurray, represented by CUPE 2559 and CUPE 2545, will hold a press conference on Tuesday, September 17th at 9 a.m. to address the provincial government’s recent decision to force them into binding arbitration.

The workers claim the government’s action violates their Charter-protected right to free collective bargaining. They will use the press conference to outline their concerns and provide an update on their next steps in the fight for a fair deal that respects their work and ensures quality education for Fort McMurray students.

The press conference will be held at Dr. K.A. Clark Public School, located at 8453 Franklin Avenue in Fort McMurray.

The unions are calling the government’s move to force arbitration a violation of their rights, and argue that it undermines the negotiation process. They believe the government is not taking their concerns seriously and is attempting to impose a settlement without truly listening to their demands.

The education workers are determined to continue fighting for a fair contract that recognizes their vital role in educating the next generation.
