**KIGALI, RWANDA -** Nigeria’s Under-19 women’s cricket team is ready to compete in the ICC U-19 Women’s Cricket World Cup qualifiers in Rwanda, with right-hand batter Piety Lucky leading the charge as captain.
The Nigerian Cricket Federation announced a 14-player roster for the qualifiers, which will be held from September 22 to 29 in Kigali. Joining Lucky are other prominent players such as Peculiar Agboya, Shola Adekunle, Lilian Ude, and Christabel Chukwuonye.
The team, which has already faced off against Ghana and South West in qualifying series, will now compete against Malawi, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe for the top spot in the African division. The winner of the Division 1 qualifier will earn Africa’s second ticket to the World Cup finals in Malaysia.
This second edition of the tournament, scheduled for January 8 to February 2, 2025, will see 16 teams compete for the title. Nigeria will be grouped with hosts South Africa, New Zealand, and Samoa.
The Nigerian team is confident in their ability to succeed in the qualifiers and secure their place in the World Cup finals.
