Tue Sep 17 07:23:00 UTC 2024: ## Taxi Driver Denies Hitting Josh Warneke in Drive-Through Before His Death
**Broome, WA** – A former taxi driver, Philip Nordfelt, has denied hitting Josh Warneke, a 21-year-old tradesman, with his vehicle at a McDonald’s drive-through in the hours before his death in 2010. This statement came during the second day of a coronial inquest into Mr. Warneke’s death.
Mr. Nordfelt, under cross-examination, stated that he had seen Mr. Warneke at the restaurant, but denied any physical contact. He admitted that his vehicle came within a foot of Mr. Warneke, but insisted he never touched him.
The inquest also heard testimony from experienced ambulance officer Linley Cilia, who was called to the scene where Mr. Warneke’s body was found on Old Broome Road. Ms. Cilia stated that she had not observed any signs of a hit and run at the scene and that she did not see any injuries on Mr. Warneke’s torso suggesting a vehicle strike.
Further testimony was provided by friends and witnesses present at the Bungalow Bar on the night of Mr. Warneke’s death, reinforcing the idea that he was in good spirits and not visibly intoxicated. They also confirmed that they were never shown any photos of potential suspects by police during the investigation.
The inquest, which began on Monday, is expected to conclude in Broome on Wednesday before resuming in Perth next week. It is hoped that the inquest will shed light on the circumstances surrounding Mr. Warneke’s death and provide answers for his family, who have been seeking justice for years.
