Wed Sep 18 10:10:04 UTC 2024: ## Real Madrid’s Endrick Sets New Champions League Record with Late Goal

**MADRID (AP)** – Endrick etched his name in Real Madrid history Tuesday, becoming the club’s youngest ever Champions League goalscorer at the tender age of 18. The Brazilian forward, who joined Real Madrid from Palmeiras this season, scored a stunning goal in the 94th minute of the match against VfB Stuttgart at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

The goal, a low shot from outside the penalty area, came after Endrick had been substituted into the game in the 80th minute. He opted to take the shot himself rather than passing to Kylian Mbappé or Vinicius Júnior, despite the opportunity to set up a teammate.

“I had passed the ball to Vini the first time, but then I felt that the best option was to take the shot and it went in,” Endrick said.

His impressive goal helped Real Madrid secure a 3-1 victory in their Champions League opener. The win was made even sweeter by the fact that it also marked Endrick’s first Champions League goal.

“He did something that no one would have done it,” remarked Rodrygo, Endrick’s Brazilian teammate. “I’m really happy for him, it’s always special to score in the Champions League.”

Endrick’s goal also shattered a record previously held by Real Madrid legend Raúl González. Raúl scored a hat trick at the age of 18 years and 113 days in 1995, making him the youngest Champions League goalscorer for the club until now.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Endrick’s “confidence” and “guts” in taking the shot, a testament to the young player’s self-belief and skill. Endrick has now scored two goals for Real Madrid since joining the club, including a goal in his La Liga debut.

This impressive start to his European career signals that Endrick is destined for a bright future with Real Madrid.
